Why in the world would I ever pick a degree in Theoretical Physics?

It might sound confusing for some or daunting for others, but there are quite a lot of people who genuinely enjoy taking a physics class. I have always had that curiosity for learning about science and this subject was never an exception. I took a different course of physics from 9th grade all the way up to my senior year of high school and found them all fun. I can't deny that certain chapters were way harder than others, but for the most part it went relatively smooth with a few bumps along the way. (I still have a deep and personal vendetta against cylindrical conductors...) Now, I have to credit the growth of my interest and dedication to this field to my high school physics teacher prof. Marquez, if it wasn't for him I'd probably be crawled up in a corner crying with no clue about how to solve a problem that involved something like a gaussian surface. And I don't want to make it sound like very few people can learn about all this stuff, I'm just trying to emphasis how lucky I got learning a hard subject with a teacher like him. In terms of the future, I've never really had a clue as to what I'd do growing up, and I'm not too sure what I'd like to do with a degree in theoretical physics. I picked it because of how open it still leaves my options post-degree and how much I enjoyed the thinking, problem solving, and learning process in physics. Which still gives me time to think it through and decide on a profession further down the line. So for now I'll just go with the flow for these few short years until I find a career path that I'd be interested in taking.
